Angel Sanctuary (2)Author: KeloidMilk I heard a lot of positive things about this anime, mostly from crazy Kaori Yuuki fangirls. Although I wouldn't usually trust their judgement, I gave "Angel Sanctuary" a try. I'm never listening to fangirls EVER again. Angel Sanctuary is a very nice-looking twenty-something volume manga done by Kaori Yuuki (Boys Next Door, Count Kain, etc.) This anime tries to condense a whole lot of this manga into 90 minutes. So, of course, disaster is inevitable. The minute the show starts, we are thrown right into the middle of the story line, being extremely rushed into abstract explanations that struggle to tell what the hell is going on. The moment you figure out a certain scene, the show jumps right into a series of other things that struggle to seem important (or, in other words, make you care about what's happening). The story is basically a bunch of jumbled ideas shoved into each other regardless of coherency. Despite all this, the anime does have some nice artwork, and the animation is pretty clean (which is the only reason why I didn't shoot this one down to a 1). But good looks can't hide the other things in this show, such as the very bland musical score. Angel Sanctuary could have possibly been good, but at a short 90 minutes, it could barely advance the story at all. This one's a dud. Stay away from it. Overall Rating: 2
