Aquarian AgeAuthor: Sarah To begin, the three-disc anime series is based on the original trading card game (the game which in turn gave birth to the Juvenile Orion Trading card game, and then the Juvenile Orion Manga Series from broccoli entertainment). A boy named Kyota and his friends Shingo and Junichi are in a band. Kyota's Parents own a small store, and he often uses it as a crutch when he doesn't feel like working hard enough to create his own future. At the boys' new years concert debut, a scout from a fairly large company named cosmopop recruits the band. Everything seems to be taking a turn for the better... until Kyota starts to see weird magical girls fighting in public (which by the way, no one around him sees). Kyota is thrust into an ancient fight between five different organizations: The Arayashiki, Wiz-dom, Darklore, E.G.O, Eraser, and then a seperate class of independent people called 'Mindbreakers' (those who can use the power of others for their own objectives). If that wasn't enough, his childhood friend Yoko seems to be a large part of all this. She is torn between two destinies laid before her: to become a darklore, or ruler of the Arayashiki. To destroy the world, or try to save it, even if saving means death? With talented artists at the helm, and an intuitive story-line, this trading card game take-off is rich in mystery and will keep you watching 'just one more' until the end! The character designs were unique and intricate, making you crave a whole artbook so to study the work that went into every frame. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, even though when coming to an end it opened up some new topics, instead of closing all ties. Hopefully they will run a second season. Overall Rating: 9 |
