Armored Trooper VOTOMSAuthor: Mark McPherson It is far into the future. Planets fight against each other with extreme mobile weaponry called Votoms. Chirico is assigned to a rutheless mission to steal gold from a ship and stumbles across a naked woman in a tube. When he discovers this, his team decides that he has learned too much and tries to dispose of him. He ends up in the hands of the enemy. After going through intense torture, Chirico escapes the compound. And so begins Chricio's journey through the unknown. The first thing that compelled me to watch this show is that it was made by Ryosuke Takahashi (Gasaraki, Blue Gender) so it was natural for me to pick it up. The show moves at a somewhat fast pace and is very serious, but also a bit humurous at the same time. The age of this show can be seen not just by the quality of the animation, but by the style. Prepare to see odd stuff like vanilla-colored afros and parachute pants. The mecha designs were pretty good as well. They are small, but highly mobile. Only about 8 to 10 feet tall. The character designs are also another reason to watch this show. Lots of character development and great designs. Chirico has that 'I'm so cool I barely talk' attitude, but the other characters balance this flaw out. Overall, swell animation, great designs and a great story equals good anime.
