BiohunterAuthor: Reiko-chan A close friend of mine lent me this title in a sort of trade for my four volumes of the Berserk manga. And let me tell you- I REALLY missed my manga after watching this movie... What sucked? 1) The characters. They were very boring, and I really didn't give a crap about what happened to them. Really, I didn't! They weren't interesting or moderately attractive-looking or effective in the least. I mean, I can't even remember their names, and I have a pretty decent memory. 2) The basic premise of the story. It was stupid and boring. Okay, there's a virus and... is that it? Is that what infected the very important man that was eating shirtless ladies' livers? And it infected other people and.... I'm confusing myself. Basically, there was WAY too much confusion going on during this movie. I couldn't follow it because there seemed like there were things that were a bit out of place. 3) The length. This movie is a bit under an hour. It's too short to be able to unfold properly. Had it been a bit longer, the movie might have made more sense. 4) The dialog. It was lame and cheesy, and very, very disappointing. Apparently, the director of Ninja Scroll and Wicked City wrote the script. SHAMEFULL. What made me sit through it? 1) The ending theme. It was VERY odd, but rather addicting. I listened to it a few times. I can't remember any other piece of music other than the end song. It was... AKIRA music, strange and pretty enjoyable, but it's an acquired taste. 2) The monster design. The monster that the good guy morphed into was very original and very creative. Certainly one of the coolest monster designs out there. 3) The animation. It is highly detailed, everything from the sex scene in the beginning to the graphic violence. I loved the animation in this film, and I wish that the rest of the film could match the brilliance of the art. You want to keep this movie away from the kiddies. The first scene is a fairly graphic sex scene (that excludes the lower extremities) and some girl's left breast eats a man's hand. It leads you to believe that the creator was on acid during the contemplation of this scene. There are many breast shots; the creator feels the need to show them while a disgusting monster eats the women's livers. Speaking of which - the violence is horrendously graphic. Not quite the level of Apocalypse Zero, but more so than AKIRA. It is VERY detailed - NOTHING is left to the imagination. Characters use guns, teeth, tentacles... So, I don't recommend this movie and I'm giving it a relatively low rating. Overall Rating: 5
