Blue Seed

Blue Seed is about a 16-year old girl named Momiji Fujimiya, a member of the Kushinada Clan. The Kushinada Clan dates back many centuries and has the power to block the Aragami, plant-like monsters' intent on reviving their God, Susanoh-oh. Mamoru Kusanagi is a man implanted with 7 mitamas (also known as blue seeds, the soul of the Aragami) whose purpose was to ensure that Kaede, Momiji's twin sister and possessor of the same unique power, was not turned over to humans. After Kaede's disappearance, Kusanagi is sent to protect Momiji in the same way that he was originally sent to protect Kaede.
The TAC, part of the Prime Minister's Office Special Committee on Territorial
Security, is also involved, trying to protect Momiji from the Aragami in case she is needed to stop the apocalyptic return of Susanoh-oh. Unfortunately, if and when Susanoh-oh is brought back to life, the only way that is known to kill him is by sacrificing a virginal member of the Kushinada Clan. For this reason, the Aragami want Kusanagi to capture and protect Momiji from the humans, and the TAC is trying to protect Momiji from the Aragami.
The struggle takes place in Tokyo.
This anime is well-animated; the voices (the original Japanese voices, anyways; it was dubbed by ADV, that should be warning enough) are great, especially because Megumi Hayashibara does Momiji's voice; and it has monsters, babes, and gunfire: It appeals to most anyone. The music is really nice as well, although the ending song can get a little annoying after a while. This series is 26 episodes (that's 13 ADV tapes) long; and, while some of the episodes veer
somewhat away from the main storyline, the insights into the characters' lives still make for great entertainment.
